Vivienne Ayres, Filmmaker and Journalist.
Throughout my high school and college career, I have worked on every stage of the production process and have found myself to be most confident in producing and editing. I have worked on character-driven stories portraying everyone from a Croatian pop star who moved to my small town to my own grandfather. Through my university's Project W Documentary Program, I directed and produced a documentary about Dolly Parton’s cultural impact on Tennessee. I have also worked on multiple political and environmental documentaries, including one about the unraveling of the lasting effect of the infamous Aliso Canyon Gas Leak. I have also had the opportunity to produce and direct a documentary short about Alaskan Native fashion designers and artists through my university’s Community Voices documentary program, hearing about others' connection to their own creations. Through these projects, I became compelled by arts-related pieces because art always reflects a larger socio-political landscape that deepen stories. These stories are ones I would like to continue to tell. I have also worked in the documentary department of The Kennedy/Marshall Company and with PBS SoCal. Through these internships, I have worked on the development of documentary features and series, as well as production and post-production for digital series.
I am encouraged to see how many important stories can be uncovered by just asking around and paying attention. I would love to continue to produce and direct unscripted content in the future.
